What is that?
Diatomaceous Earth, commonly referred to as DE, is made from the fossilized shells of diatoms, an ancient kind of algae. As time passed, these microscopic shells, consisting mostly of the mineral silica, accumulated in freshwater lake beds and formed huge silica deposits. When mined and ground into powder, it becomes what we call Diatomaceous Earth.
Why is it beneficial?
As Diatomaceous Earth is fossilized algae it is mainly comprised of amorphous silica, but it also contains calcium, magnesium, titanium dioxide, gallium, sodium and other trace minerals.
Silica, a natural mineral found in your bones and nails, as you get older the silica your body naturally makes tends to decline, so consuming DE allows your body to maintain high silica levels and maintain strong bones. The combination of minerals found in Diatomaceous Earth makes this an amazing dietary supplement as it (1) helps move things out of your intestines and (2) helps promote healthier hair, skin, bones, and joints.
Diatomaceous Earth, when mined, becomes a chalk-like powder that is microscopically very hard, coarse, and absorbent. This is beneficial when consuming it as it will gently remove and expel build up along the arteries, veins and organs, while also killing and removing parasites from the body. The same concept is applied when treating your home and garden for pests. Since it has a very hard, coarse, and absorbent texture you will sprinkle onto infected areas around your home and garden. This non-toxic pesticide alternative will kill insects by drying out their hard shells.

When pets ingest a consistent dosage of DE
Remove Roaches, Ants, Bugs, Ticks and Fleas from home
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a natural pest control that is great to use around your home because it's natural and safe.
Follow the steps below to use DE as a natural pest control.
Take note of the infected areas around your house. These areas will be the focus of your Diatomaceous Earth application.
-Roaches are primarily found in your bathroom and kitchen
-Ants and other bugs are looking for food and water but can be found throughout your home
-Ticks and fleas are found in places where your pets spend their time, rugs, couches, kennel, etc.
Vacuum infected areas. This helps collect any eggs that might be lying around; collecting these eggs before you apply the diatomaceous earth is essential because eggs aren't affected by DE until after they hatch.
Dust the area with Diatomaceous Earth. You can use a sieve, a tied off sock filled with DE. Dust the area thoroughly. DE is most effective when it's dry, so make sure the areas where you apply aren't damp. Leave the DE applied as long as possible. A couple of weeks are ideal.
If you have a pet and are cleaning for fleas and ticks follow steps 4 and 5, if not move to step 6
After a few days of letting your pet lounge around in Diatomaceous Earth, give your pet a bath with a thorough shampooing. We don't recommend bathing pet very often, since it can dry out their skin, but since DE can also dry out skin, it's important to revitalize your pet’s skin with a soap-free or moisturizing shampoo.
It's unlikely that fleas will survive vacuuming, the Diatomaceous Earth, and a bath, but go ahead and comb through your pet's fur with a flea comb anyway, just to make sure none get away. Do this every few days.
After a couple of weeks, vacuum thoroughly. Along with cleaning up the Diatomaceous Earth, vacuuming will collect any surviving pests, as well as their eggs, helping to break the life cycle.
DE is very hard on traditional filtered vacuums. Unless you're only cleaning a small section, we recommend using a shop vac (wet/dry vac) to avoid burning out your vacuum's motor.
DE is a great to use in your garden.
DE works best in killing bugs and insects when soil is dry. Sprinkle DE on your plants and surrounding soil after watering the plants or it has rained. Do not spray DE on flowers as it will kill bees and we need bees to pollinate our earth, you can spray on the soil around the flowers
Use on compost
DE is beneficial in 2 ways. First it will kill all maggots and bugs inside your compost. Secondly DE works as an odor neutralizer so you won’t attract any animals onto your property by the smell of the composting food.
