Our body is made up of 60-80% water so it would make sense that we hydrate ourselves with water to ensure our body is able to function without getting sick. Well apparently this is not common sense.
I hate going to the doctor and avoid it whenever possible but I recently went to the doctor for a check-up. During the check up the doctor asked me how much fluid I was drinking a day. I told him I primarily drink water and aim for 75% my body weight. Do you know what he told me? He said you don’t have to drink water to be hydrated, he said you can drink any fluid and it would be fine to hydrate your body.
Once I got over the shock of his statement, I had to tell him how ignorant that statement was. How can any fluid be fine to hydrate the body when most store bought drinks are loaded with sugar and preservatives? The body cannot process these ingredients. They then get stored in the body as fat and eventually turn into diseases like cancer or diabetes. Do you know how he responded? He “well, everything in moderation.” OMG, this from a doctor! Needless to say I will no longer be going back to him.
When I left I was so upset, what other lies are the medical professionals telling their patients? I can only imagine how many patients he has and if he is learning this in medical school how many other doctors are telling their patients wrong information as well. I had heard someone say “once you become a patient you never get healed.” After meeting with this doctor that statement makes so much sense.
To go slightly off topic here. Back on topic, water is life and is vital for any organism to thrive and survive. Water assists the body in flushing out toxins and removing waste from the colon. You should be drinking primarily water every day, it is ok to flavor it with fresh fruits, vegetables and mints. Feel free to make herbal tea and drink it chilled. But make sure you get your water in.
Drink 75% of your body weight in water daily. Not tap water; it is riddled with lead, fluoride, prescription drugs. Even the best filtration system provided by your state or county cannot kill all toxins and pollutants without adding their own toxic chemicals like chlorine.
Aim to drink spring water or at minimum buy a good filtration system that hooks up to your faucet. The store bought kind that comes with a pitcher will take out a few toxins and many essential minerals your body needs.
