What defines Liberty?
According to Google its “state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of Life, Behavior or Political Views.”
Are you in a “state of being free”?
Google defines FREEDOM as “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.”
As Americans we talk about freedom with pride. But if we were truly free would we need to ask permission to do what we want when we want? If we were truly free, we wouldn’t need a license to drive or to work. We wouldn’t need a permit for a public event. It is impossible to be free if we need to file or petition for permission to do something. When we were younger we had to get our parents to sign a permission slip. Now we get the permission slip signed by our local government agency.
We wouldn’t have parking tickets. The whole idea of parking tickets baffles me, first we have to pay to park our cars on the public street then if time runs out and we haven’t moved we get a big fat ticket for not paying enough. How is this for our benefit and protection?
We also wouldn’t pay unnecessary taxes. The 16th amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America says we can be taxed on our income, Sales Tax is never mentioned. They are first taxing the employee who produces what we consume, and then they are taxing the consumer for buying it. We are paying double the tax. We should be able to buy items we need without being taxed by the government. This is exactly what our Forefathers fought for, Taxation without Representation. I know I didn’t agree to this, did you?
Our Liberty has been taken from us and we are no longer free. I only named a few ways we are oppressed. There are many, many more examples of these imposed oppressive restrictions. But there is good news! We can get our freedom back, yes that is right we can get it back! Get Involved! The solution is easy it’s the implementation and follow through that can be hard. Remember you cannot claim freedom if you do not know what you are free from.
Go to the office of your local Councilmen. These are the guys who will be able to help you within your community. Talk to them about current issues and future projects. Do you agree with their vision, outlook and approach to your community? Attend all the community meetings, this is the place where your voice gets heard. It’s like someone owing you $100,000.00, you wouldn’t let them forget it, you would even keep in close contact with them to make sure they don’t dodge or skip out on you. The same, if not more, should be done for your freedom after all it is much more valuable.
Freedom is a right and therefore must be protected! The moment you stop protecting it or don’t deem it as a priority you will lose your freedom and allow someone else to take your Liberty and control you.
